postheadericon Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

We kicked off the holiday weekend in style with a rousing show at Tony’s on Friday 5/28.

Deanna & Matthew wow’d the crowd with their fabulous vocalization…Justin led the charge with the horn sections rallying behind…special guest Farnell Newton and director James M Gregg got into a bit of a trumpet battle on the fiery “Mambo Caliente,” and Deanna and Matthew surprised and entertained the crowd with small-group selections from the set lists for their “other” bands, Deanna & The Downbeats and the Matthew Gailey Trio.  It was quite a night!

Of course today is the day to honor our fallen servicemen and servicewomen who lay it on the line every day so you and I can enjoy things like great big band music.   Hats off to them, and all our veterans and active duty soldiers!

We’re gearing up for the next round of fun and games, coming up on June 25th at Tony’s.  Expect a few new tunes and all the hijinks and hilarity you’ve come to expect from the BOSBB!

postheadericon Oh, what a night!

To all of you that were at Tony Starlight’s last night – a great big “Thank You” is in order! Because of you, we played to a full house, which makes the evening extra fun for us!

Last night was Matthew Gailey’s debut performance with the Bureau of Standards Big Band, and he really knocked some socks off! Matthew is an accomplished singer and performer, and we’d heartily recommend that you check him out with some of his other projects – you can check up on Matthew by visiting his website at matthewgailey.com.

Of course, the lovely and talented Ms. Deanna Maio was in fine form last night, too – you should have heard her on I’m Beginning To See The Light – I think we were all seeing stars by the end!

And what would the band be without the redoubtable James M. Gregg conducting the band through all that swing and fling all night long? His trumpet solos were a shimmering flurry of screaming trumpet notes that left him breathless and the crowd in awe.

Thanks again to everyone for coming out – if it wasn’t for you, we’d look pretty silly up on that stage all by ourselves!

We were great, you were fabulous, and we hope to see you all again very soon!

Until next time,
– BOSBB

Matthew Gailey

Our new singer, Matthew Gailey!

The Latest Scoop…

Please Help Us Welcome Matthew Gailey to the Bureau!

We are proud to announce that after much hand-wringing, soul-searching, deep-thinking, scotch-drinking and vocalist-auditioning, we have found a new male singer for the BOS Big Band! And, he’ll probably look familiar to most of you…

Matthew showed up out of the blue at a Big Band Karaoke show one night and completely knocked our socks off!

Since then he has appeared with the Sing For Your Supperclub and the Bureau of Standards Big Bands as a guest vocalist. We’re sure you’ll appreciate his amazing vocal abilities, charming good looks and friendly smile as much as we do!

postheadericon Welcome to our new site!

Hey, we’ve been working on this site almost as hard as we’ve been working on our music, and we hope you enjoy them both!

Have a look around, and we hope to see you at our next show!
